This baby arrived safe and sound. I was really surprised at delivery.
Clean. The guy unboxed it, we set it up turned it on and connected my
Satellite box to it on HD channel. Whoa!! Nice. We then placed it on a
stand and I hooked up all my stuff, plus a 3D player. My 3D movies came
in, I slipped one in(night time out) and WOW! It was awesome 3D at its
best. We watched Avatar and like the jungle jumped out at you. Amazing.
We did buy the 3D transmitter, 2 3D glasses made for this TV and a
couple of 3D movies. Well worth the money.
3/11/2013: Still enjoying this TV. I love it. So far no problems. The Superbowl was amazing to watch on this TV.
I love this tv. Things to consider before buying large DLP. Do you have a
large enough room? Will you be sensitive to the Rainbow effect? For my
tv I needed at least ten feet of distance from it. I was sensitive to
the rainbow effect, but positioning the tv at a greater distance,
turning the brightness down, leaving a light on in the room, or watching
wide aspect ratio movies (with a black bar on the top and bottom of the
screen) all seem to eliminate the effect.
This tv has a very good
picture quality and is a much better choice than LCD if you plan on
watching lower resolution content off the internet, or from a DVD. I
have not yet tried HD content or 3D . This unit requires an infrared
emiter and 3 D glasses sold seperately. The base of the tv is not as
wide as the screen. The tv is not that heavy. I put mine on an average
size wooden kitchen table.
This TV is great. Setup and menu operations are much easier than most
other brands I've operated. Other reviews mention a slight delay
changing channels but not a big deal. Hold down the remotes channel
change button and the channel numbers slide past quickly on the screen
so you can jump around quickly, a nice feature I have not seen before.
The hook ups on the back are just right. I only picked this TV for an
extra $50 at the time over the non 3D C12 series solely for the 3rd HDMI
input. Both TV's share the same owners manual so are basically the
same. I am not reviewing or using the 3D on this TV because other
models/brands are much better choices for 3D. Speakers are just adequate
for TV watching. Plug a sound bar/theater system/Bose into the tv's
digital audio output for an easy home theater.
